“Abraham is not a real singer.” …WHAT!?

So my dad came into my room while I was watching “Jar of Hearts” by Arden Cho and Abraham. As he wanted to use the computer I just told him : “wait until the end of the song ! I really love it !” So he sat on my sofa and waited. And when Abraham started to sing, a big smile appeared on my face and I looked at my father like “Hey, did you hear that !?” His only reaction was a dismayed sigh and a “He is not even a real singer…”

I beg your pardon? I mean…WHAT?! Okay so let me break it down for you.
I guess my father only said that because he does not like “Jar of Hearts”… or maybe he has many other really good reasons but anyway.
What is a real singer? What does it mean for you?
Is a real singer someone you can hear every day on the radio? Or someone you can see on TV? (yes I know, you can see Abraham on the TV, but not on the French one~) Is a real singer someone who is paid to sing and produce sh*t he does not even write ? (Okaaaay, Abraham does not have his own songs…not yet.) Musical sh*t that you will hear in the Parisian and American club from one to three a.m, is that music? A man with a robot voice, is that a singer? Is a real singer the kind of guy that girls from 8 to 13 are in love with? If yes, then okay, Abraham is NOT a real singer, and I hope he will never be.

Because when I say “singer”, I first mean a voice. I mean someone being able to bring a voice to life. A voice with a soul. A voice with tears and smiles on it. A voice which can bring emotions, which can send shivers over our spines.

And even if Abraham is not doing is own songs…He’s still talented. For me, that’s enough : he’s a singer… Maybe some people would say “he is not a singer, as singing is not his job yet.” Yes, that’s true, he is not a singer as I am a student or my father a teacher, but for me, being a singer is not always about earning money thanks to that…uh, I don’t know if you understand what I mean? I’m french, it’s sometimes hard to express myself in english, haha.

Oh but wait. I think I got it. Maybe my father thinks Abraham and Arden are not real singers because they are both asian. That’s truuuuue, how did I forget? Asian people can just make nem and sushi ! (btw we don’t eat sushi and nem in south korea). Asian people can not sing, obviously. Proof? Do you know any famous asian singers in america? Or Europa? No you don’t ! (…okay, okay, BIGBANG is coming, and Super Junior were in L.A, I know…) But hey! Asian people can be waiter in chinese restaurants! It’s great! Or they can also play…you know! The bad “yakuza” in movies, who is killed at the seventh minute of the film…or…You know! The one who is doing karate or kung-fu while shouting “BANZAI”!…Wait, no, this role is already taken. The yakuza then! Or even better, more than being a chinese waiter, you can play the chinese waiter!

…………………………………….NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Asian people can sing, and they can dance [look at Harry Shum Jr, mh :3], and they can act or make movies! Watanabe Ken! Don’t tell me you don’t know him! Takeshi Kitano! Park Chan-Wook! ….ABRAHAM LIM!

Okay so maybe for some people, a real singer is someone really famous. Someone who can’t do ANYTHING but SING to live.
But even if Abraham is not a super star (yet…because he’s gonna be on glee. Yes. I know it even better than he does. (?)), he still is an amazing singer, and performer, and an amazing PERSON.
And not an amazing asian guy.
And so is Arden Cho.

Ugh. Sorry. I think I lost my temper xD
Have a nice day or night everyone, and keep supporting Abraham Lim, and every contenders of THE GLEE PROJECT ! <3
